The power of link building

Here’s another guest post from 16 year old Onibalusi Bamidele, who provided us with his SEO advice last week.

Link building has been a very important factor in Search Engine Optimization, even though so many factors have changed over time after their abuse, it appears link building will not change.

Here are some tips and advice on link building: Link building has the power of taking an empty page (I mean virtually empty) to the first page of Google if properly done (but I don’t think it is necessary having a visitor that will not be useful to you but rather curse you). When building your links, here are some tips to help you:

ANCHOR TEXT: try as much as possible to make use of anchor texts because a link is almost useless (for search engine rankings) if anchor texts are not used. Try as much as possible to rotate or variate your anchor text in order to make your link building more natural.

RELEVANCY: Relevancy is also very important in any link building campaign as it helps the search engines know more about your site. Try to get links for related sites (non related links can sometimes be useful though).

CONSISTENCY: Try to be consistent in your link building efforts thereby preventing any atmosphere of suspect (by the search engines of course).

SOCIAL BOOKMARKS: Social bookmarking is now becoming one of the major aspects of Link building and SEO, so you should try as much as possible to use social bookmarking sites in order to increase the number of your backlinks significantly. A good idea is to try to bookmark each and every of your posts in at least 10 different social bookmarking sites and within a little period of time you will be experiencing a change.

PRESS RELEASES: Another means of getting one way high quality backlinks is by submitting press releases, the advantage of this is that it helps you build your brand while building your link (because press release sites are also like news sites). The key to issuing a good press release is by making sure the press release is newsworthy and also make sure it is giving the reader a little insight about your website, product or service thereby directing them to your website for more info.

PROGRAMMING: This is one of the most easiest way to gain backlinks, you only need to create a plugin or website template and include a link to your website using your desired anchor text at the bottom of the template, try as much as possible to submit the plugin and templates to several templates directory and the more your templates is being used the more the backlinks to your site.

BLOG COMMENTING: To some people this is no longer working but it has helped me rank for some keywords. The key to getting backlinks using blog commenting is by making sure you comment mostly on dofollow blogs. This is a list of dofollow blogs to comment on @ http://www.dataentryforall.net/2010/02/list-51-dofollow-blogs-comment. The above tips if properly implemented will significantly increase the number of backlinks to your site and also the number of traffic(because right anchored text backlink is the secret to high search engine rankings).

Other then that SEO plug-ins should take care of the rest assuming you name your images appropriately.
