So this is my second update to my eHow experiment. First, let’s take a quick look at the results after week two.

Articles written: 9
People recommended me: 12
Friends: 93

Total article views: 219
Highest views for one article: 54
Lowest views for one article: 5 (just posted two days ago)

Total article earnings: $0
Highest earnings for one article: $0
Lowest earnings for one article: $0

First let me start by stating, I only added one more article since last week (I blame it on the long holiday weekend). And without any marketing at all, I somehow got another person to recommend me and my total article views went from 68 to 219 (see my eHow earnings post for additional details). The really strange thing is that although I added a few new “friends” over the last few days, my friend count overall has dropped from 95 to 93. I’m not even spamming anyone in the eHow community, why are people un-friending me?!? From what I can tell, it’s a community of people who recommend each other, add comments to each other’s articles, and become friends with anyone who makes the request. I don’t personally know anyone on my friends list. My only guess is that some of my friends were accounts created for spamming purposes and have since been disabled by eHow.

Anyway, back to the earnings. I still have ZERO! I promised myself to give eHow a real shot to see where it can take me and it’s getting obvious that I’m going to have to do more than just post articles. My next steps include joining some groups (possibly even creating my own group to share articles), making new friends, adding comments to my friends’ articles, Digging my articles, and creating at least one backlink for each article. Just typing that made me tired. That doesn’t even include adding to my eHow article library if it tickles my fancy. This eHow thing is turning into a lot of work!

My next update might wait until I reach a month. It’s pointless to post numbers every week if my earnings are the same. Again, I know this is a long-term thing but I wonder how many article views I need to earn a single penny?
