There are many blogs which allow people to write for them. When you find such a blog, you can apply to write for them in return for a specific payment. However, you will need to give evidence of your experience. If you don’t have one, it is advisable to set up your own blog before applying for these opportunities.

But reality is hard to overlook and the reality is that blogging is not a career option at least. You can take it as a hobby but with caution because it can leave out sooner than you can expect. It requires a passion for writing and a keen desire to post something unique and exciting. I have personally seen people taking up blogging as a profession and then given up within the next two months. Now, if you do not wish to join this bandwagon, you need to aware of the flipsides of blogging if you want to kick start your career in this domain:

Blogging isn’t that Easy – Contrary to popular perception, blogging is anything but easy job. It requires a certain degree of devotion, dedication and a keen desire to present things that people in general will find truly interesting and engaging. It takes some doing to choose the topic, brainstorm to get the concept into tangible words, find the proper images and finally get it posted in the blog. And then it is not the end of the job. You need to work hard to promote in different social media websites. Now, initial enthusiasm is likely to die down as soon as you see that all your going down the drains as the Analytics is not showing any positive signs.  So, you need to be mentally prepare that blogging is going to make you earn thousands of dollars each month. It will take months, sometimes more than six moths to see your blog showing some signs of improvements.

It is not business all the time: Lets face is that on one can survive solely on blogging. You can take it a side business, earn some good bucks by selling some adds in the blog or adding Google Adsense but none of them dilute the importance of having a day job. You can see things this – blog is the best tool to promote your business but do not take it as the business itself. Blogging is a means to boost your business and not the other way round.

Blogging isn’t all about you: blogging may sound personal but if you wish to build up a good rapport with some people who regularly visit your website and read your posts, you should not turn your blog into a personal journal. Instead of using ‘I’ and ‘me’ all the time, you need to use ‘you’ and sometimes ‘them’ to reflect the concerns of visitors and to make them feel that you care for them. People like to read interesting articles, tips, great images and other facts that make them feel good or at least shock them but if your blog is filled with droll of  personal information, it will soon kiss the dust.

Blog is about interaction: Staying aloof from your readers and treating them as inferiors is certainly not the way forward by any standard. You have seen people commenting on your blog but have ever thought of replying their queries probably not. This is probably the biggest mistake a blogger can commit in his career. However, not all comments are important. There are some who comments only to get a linkback their website whereas some people comments only to vent their feeling. Special attention should be given to latter.

Practice doesn’t help always: Practice makes a man perfect. Sounds true but the fact is that it cannot be applied everywhere. There are some exceptions and you have to accept. We cannot become Shakespeare no matter how hard we may try. Every man has his limitation and potentials. We need to find out our potentials as a blogger before we go on blogging like anything else. Rather than writing regularly, you need to take a break and try to perfect your writing style, add some unique elements in them to make it look polish if you are to survive in this cut throat competitive environment.

As it stands, there isn’t really any concrete way of knowing exactly how many amateur arm chair writers and business blogs fail on a daily basis, but suffice to say the answer would not be a small number. One of the biggest problems blogs face in the modern way of things is that although they have potential to be hugely powerful, there are just so many of them that the competition is beyond immense. With this in mind, the following is a brief rundown of a few of the most common reasons for blog failures that can be taken as sure-fire ways of killing a blog in a spectacular style:

1 – Lack of Devotion

It really make little to no difference what the subject of the blog is or its overall purpose, the necessary amount of devotion and focus is required to make the blog a success. The biggest cause of all blog failing by far is the way in which many owners feel they are doing a good job with theirs, but are in fact neglecting them somewhat. Consider how many hours per day are actually being devoted to the blog and evaluate whether this is really enough.

2 – Doing it Alone

Taking the reigns and getting into the blog business along can seem a hugely appealing prospect, with full control over the proceedings and 100% of all gains and rewards to follow. However, doing so can be a huge mistake if the subject matter of the blog is one where time-consuming research is needed or other complexities abound. The simple fact of the matter here is that nobody is really going to want to read what they may have already read a dozen times elsewhere, therefore if there is nothing more to be said and nothing to add to the information available, perhaps leave it out.

6 – Ignoring Analytics

One of the most wonderful things about the Internet is the way in which business, site and blog owners can track the activities of their readers right down to the very last one – which makes it all the more surprising that millions still never use the software available to do so! The commissions you get depends on the merchant that you will use and you can get anywhere from 30% to 75% of commission of the product’s real price.

3. Review Posts

You can write product reviews on products or you can simply review blogs or any kind of services that are available online.  A lot of blog owners also accept paid reviews where they allow services, product owners to advertise their business on their blog. If you have enough skills, you can write the review yourself but you can always request the buyer to write the review.

4. Email Marketing

A lot of Internet marketers love blogging because they promote their products on their blogs and create a huge list of hungry subscribers. Building a list is fundamental to make money online and you can easily create a list by blogging.

What is Affiliate Marketing?

The way affiliate marketing works is based around promoting a website’s business or services. You as an affiliate will either have to gain visitors to a site, subscribers or most popular, sale leads. It is usually referred to as paid on delivery. You will not get paid unless you deliver.

What do I Need to Get Started?

A website or blog is crucial to get started at affiliate marketing. A blog or site that is well established will give you better results to start with than with a site you just register today.

Before you start, you need to make sure if you want your site to be an informational site with the odd banners at the side, or you want your site to be a full affiliate site, where the sole purpose of the site is affiliate links.

Whatever you decide you need to make sure what niche your site will be about. There is no point having a site that promotes TVs, watches, cooker, and then gambling. You need to make a site that discusses and promotes similar products. Having a site that reviews TV with an affiliate link at the bottom of the review is perfect. Bear in mind that you need to sign up to all the affiliate programs from the different manufacturers of TVs. Then you as an affiliate will receive commissions for every person that you refer to the TV merchant who buys a TV.

But Wait

Many people believe that you can make an affiliate site today and then tomorrow be rich. I am sorry to disappoint you but it is really not that simple. If you had a huge advertising budget then, sure, you will get results a lot quicker. For the rest of us however, it is going to take some time.

Without Visitors to your site you are going to make no commissions whatsoever. You can either use such programs as Google Adsense to buy traffic to your site, or you need to get your site into the top of search engines. To do this you will either have to hire an SEO (which could have negative effects if you hire the wrong one) or you need to learn SEO (search engine optimisation) yourself.

The look and feel of your website can also play a big part. It is not essential, but a site that you think does not look professional will also have the same effect with other people. Getting a Designer and Developer to make your site look and function better can be very expensive. Knowing how to do this yourself will save you a hell of a lot of money in the beginning. It is just taking the time to learn.

Most affiliate programs will not pay you the $5 you made last month if that is all you made. You need to read the small print as many affiliates have a withdrawal minimum and they will not let you withdraw any funds from your account if it is below this minimum.
