With changes to Google search like real time (integration of tweets) and personalization (based on user behaviors), setting up a solid foundation for SEO has become more critical than ever. Sure, you can follow some basics like the things I outlined in my SEO top 5 but using the right tools can help.
That’s where All-in-one SEO comes in. That’s the WordPress plugin that will save you plenty of time so you can focus on what you really need to do, writing quality content and actively promoting your work. Simply type a few words about your site and for each article and you’re done! I mean, it does it a lot more but that’s the gist of it.
To me, the All-in-one SEO plugin is a godsend. I know, some of you already have a theme that comes with SEO tools. But guess what, I’d still recommend using this tool instead.
3 reasons to use All-in-one SEO over your theme’s built-in SEO
- You know what you’re getting. This is a comprehensive SEO tool that’s praised by the community. Even when it’s heavily marketed by your theme maker, often times, it’s hard to tell what you’re really getting out of theme-based SEO.
- You know it’s compatible with the latest version of WordPress. Sure, you may have to wait a few days for it to be updated, just like any plugin but in most cases, this will be compatible with each WP version (and WP 2.9 and up will even tell you if you use the plugin tool).
- You still have your SEO settings when you change themes. How often do you change themes? Do you even want to worry about what would happen to your theme-based SEO settings when you switch to a new flavor? Didn’t think so.
After all, there’s nothing like having a reliable tool that’s always going to be there for you. I would probably pay a monthly fee to use All-in-one SEO but luckily for us, it’s free!

I use the All-in-one-SEO plugin and is the best thing I ever did for my blog. I was recommended it ages ago for one of my other blogs and I now get over 70% of my traffic as search engine traffic.

Nice. Over 70% is high percentage of search engine folks coming in.
No wonder its one of the most essential plugin and I believe WordPress should Integrate its element by default like meta description and meta keywords. One common mistake which I have seen people are doing is they dont add meta description which make all in one SEO less effective.

All-in-one SEO saves me a lot of time but I’m guessing many folks aren’t really familiar with SEO to begin with so nothing is done about it.
Also, some people just prefer to use the SEO that comes with their premium themes.
I actually have this plug-in installed, but don’t fully know how to use it. Truthfully I have actually taken the time to understand it. No excuses anymore, I’m just going to DO IT!!!!

Just go to Settings|All in One SEO and add some keywords and descriptions for your site. This will save you the trouble of jumping into any files.
Then, for when you’re writing your posts, scroll down and add the same two things.
I feel the three reasons you have listed here are very important because you want to be familiar with what you’re working with and you need the compatibility. It’s also nice to know that all the settings are in place even if you change themes. Most blogs don’t change their theme on a regular basis just it’s nice to know they can do so without worry.
I’m going to check this out now.
Good post Gabe!

Im afraid to lose my hold on SEO..

There’s really no big question that WP has a lot to offer compared to Blogger as far as SEO is concerned. I’ll be using this All-in-One SEO plugin soon on my WP blogs. But for my Tech blog, I’m using the WP rival- so I spent a lot of time and effort doing SEO. In fact, I started getting good results as my Analytics showed 67% of traffic driven from organic searches.

Yes All in One SEO is needed, as if you don’t rank then you won’t be found.
I find though that wordpress.com has better SEO then even all in one.

Phew sorry about that, meds were kickin’ in now.
Switch from the AIO to Platinum SEO plugin now, right now, today, NOW. lol. I used AIO forever until I really looked at Platinum.
Platinum has EVERYTHING the AIO has and MORE. The thing is, the creator of Platinum LOVED AIO as we do but he wanted MORE features and functionality. The best of the added features in my opinion is the automatic 301 redirect feature for those that go nuts with permalinks.
Wanna hear something really cool? Platinum imports all your AIO info so you don’t have to redo it!
There’s also PAGES of help/FAQ type stuff.

Dennis Edell´s last blog ..Welcome Aboard Part 2! All The Info You’ve Been Waiting For…
Being able to import is pretty important. I’ve never used Platinum since I’ve been so happy with All in One for so long. Heard many good things about it though.
Check it out Gabe, seriously. Everything plus; how can you go wrong?

Dennis Edell´s last blog ..Welcome Aboard Part 2! All The Info You’ve Been Waiting For…
Even if it has Platinum has more features I am not confident that it will be updated and supported as well as all in one has always been.
Fair enough, although I have personal experience that the creator is in it for the long haul. Remember, he created it in the first place because he loved AIO so much…he just wanted more out of it.
BTW, AIO changes hands a lot…I wouldn’t be so sure on the support there at all.

I think All in One SEO is an important plugin but I’m not sure I’ve been using it correctly;)) Sometimes I have a feeling I don’t use some important features.
All-in-one SEO is a useful WP plugin, but unfortunately it doesn’t give the power to control all links in order to choose whether you want them nofollow or dofollow.
